ThumbnailGrader ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights with respect to that information. By using ThumbnailGrader, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information: Your email address and a securely hashed version of your password when you create an account.
• Thumbnail images: Images you upload for grading. These are processed in memory by our AI model and are permanently deleted from our servers immediately after grading is complete. We do not store your thumbnail images.
• Grade results: The AI-generated scores, feedback, and analysis for each thumbnail you submit. These are stored so you can review your history.
• Payment information: Billing and payment details are handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your full credit card number. We store only your Stripe subscription ID and plan tier.
• Usage data: Your registration IP address (used solely for referral fraud prevention), the date and time you created your account, and general usage activity.
• Referral data: If you were referred by another user or if you refer others, we record that relationship to award credits.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide, operate, and improve the ThumbnailGrader service.
• To process payments and manage your subscription through Stripe.
• To send transactional emails such as welcome messages, password reset links, and payment receipts.
• To calculate and distribute referral credits and prevent referral fraud.
• To display your grading history and progress analytics on your dashboard.
• To respond to support requests or inquiries.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We share data only as necessary to operate the service:

• Anthropic: Your thumbnail images are sent to Anthropic's Claude API for AI analysis. Images are not retained by Anthropic beyond the duration of the API call per their data usage policies.
• Stripe: Payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. Your payment information is subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
• Hosting infrastructure: Our application runs on Railway. Your data is stored on servers within our hosting provider's infrastructure.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account data and grade history for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will permanently delete your data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial record-keeping purposes.

5. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:

• Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text.
• All connections to our service use HTTPS/TLS encryption.
• Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe and never passes through our servers.
• Uploaded thumbnail images are deleted from disk immediately after grading.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Cookies & Sessions

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. This cookie does not track you across other websites and is used solely to maintain your authenticated session. It expires after 7 days of inactivity.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data via your Account Settings page.
• Request deletion of your account and associated data.
• Withdraw consent for email communications at any time.

8. Children's Privacy

ThumbnailGrader is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
